[Gold Prize] “What Remains After Being Cut
Away” by Kenta Goto / Kansai University
Higashi-Nihonbashi has long been a hub for logistics and transportation, and has been a bustling center of human activity. As a result, the area has developed through a continuous cycle of things being made and discarded. Therefore, in the midst of such a rapidly changing era, I aimed to preserve the traces of the creators and the daily lives of the people.I believed that the scraps left over from the process of making things contain the “traces” of the creators, and this work expresses how those “traces” convey thoughts and dreams to the people of the city and add color to the streetscape.
